Virus Removal & Scam Check-up Bathurst

Think your computer might be infected, or recently fell for a tech support scam?

I can help with either.

These days, most of what I see isn't a classic virus, it's someone who's had a call from a stranger pretending to be from a well-known tech company, been talked into handing over remote access to their computer, or clicked a link they shouldn't have.

If that's happened to you, I'll check your computer over, look for any remote access software or unfamiliar programs left behind, run a proper scan, and help you work out if anything else needs attention, like changing passwords or checking your accounts.

If it's a more traditional virus or malware problem, slow performance, pop-ups, strange behaviour, I'll track down what's causing it and clean it up properly.

Either way, I come to you, so there's no need to unplug everything and carry it anywhere.

What One of These Scams Actually Looks Like

I came across one of these myself recently.

Each time I refreshed the page, it threw up a different fake warning, one claiming "your iPhone is infected with 44 viruses," another a fake "your Apple iPhone has been hacked" alert with a countdown timer, both pushing to install a cleaner app, which tricks you into paying for something you don’t need.

None of it's real.

Apple doesn't scan your phone for viruses through a website, and these scam pages are built to throw a different scary message at you each time, the countdown timer is just there to panic you into acting before you think it through.

If you see something like this: don't tap anything, don't call any number it shows you, and don't install what it's pushing. Just close the tab. If you're not sure whether something's already happened, that's exactly the kind of check-up I do.
